The word bespoke is “loosely” used in modern times.
Here are some tips on how to tell if your suit is authentically bespoke made.
- Is the person who is tailoring your suit the one who is measuring, styling and tailoring your body shape personally?
- Is your suit being tailored at the same location that you got measured and fitted?
- Is your suit getting the 40 or more hours of handwork?
- Do you see the many hand stitches on your canvas in your first fitting?
- Are you getting at least 3 fittings before your suit is completed?
- Are the button holes and buttons sewed on by hand?
- Can you go to the workshop and see you suit being tailored?
- Are you paying at least $3500 Canadian for your suit?
If you answered “no” to one or more of these questions, you are not getting a legitimate bespoke suit.
